My name is Joe Kellett.  Although I am a former TM teacher, I no longer in any way represent Maharishi Mahesh Yogi or any or his organizations. 

This web site is in no way connected with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, nor with any of his organizations that promote and teach "Transcendental Meditation"^® (often just called "TM"^®) and associated practices.  On the contrary, the purpose of this site is to provide information and arguments recommending against involvement with said individual or with any of his organizations.

I intend no criticism of any individuals other than Maharishi Mahesh Yogi!

When I was a TM teacher, I was quite sincere about what I was doing.  I truly believed that I was "doing good" in promoting and teaching TM to people.  Now, as you will see if you keep reading, I feel much different about what I was actually doing. 

However, I still assume that TM officials and TM teachers sincerely believe everything they tell you.  Sometimes they may not give you all the information that in my opinion you should know.  However, they think they are withholding such information "for your own good" because you are "not ready for it".  They mean well.

So I don't mean to imply criticism of any individual other than Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.  I assume that everyone else involved in TM is at the very worst another victim who thinks they are "doing good". 

Introduction to the issues

This next link will throw you into the "deep end" of the whole issue rather quickly.  By way of introducing myself the first resource I'd like to refer you to is the story of my own "fall down the TM rabbit hole": A Simple, Natural, Relaxation Technique?".

Does the whole thing seem a little odd?  Good, you're getting the idea.  However, perhaps you were unable to follow my story because you don't know enough about the special world of TM. 

Let's try another dunk in the deep end:  Attorney Anthony DeNaro, who is a former professor of economics and business law at the Transcendental Meditation organization's own private university, as well as being a former legal counsel to the same institution, alleges a very serious and deliberate pattern of fraud, and that "outright lies and deception, are used to cover-up or sanitize the dangerous reality on campus of very serious nervous breakdowns, episodes of dangerous and bizarre behavior, suicidal and homicidal ideation, threats and attempts, psychotic episodes, crime, depression and manic behavior that often accompanied roundings (intensive group meditations with brainwashing techniques)".

Next I'll go into more detail, but one last comment first.  I am going to be focusing on discussing a full-blown free-fall descent down the TM rabbit hole.  This is not the experience that everyone has, but it is the experience that I want everyone to be aware of and to be warned about.  But if you find any of what follows at all interesting, be sure to also read the "Common Objections and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)" where I explore some of the nuances.
